Angie here from The Quilting Connection, LLC.
Welcome to the first of our new, weekly email updates and blog posts!
I’ve got all sorts of information to share with you over the upcoming weeks. And because some of you know more about The Quilting Connection than others, I’m going to focus our first post on letting everyone know just who we are.
Did you know that The Quilting Connection is a 3rd generation business dedicated exclusively to longarm quilting?
Back in 1999 my mom and grandmother, Sue and Earlene, purchased their first longarm machine and opened the business in Elkhorn, WI. Some of you may recognize Sue Schmieden as the creator of several quilting designs and the Quick Zip System™ we use to easily load quilts on our longarm machines. Yup! That’s my mom!
I started working in the shop back in 1999 when it opened. In 2004 I started quilting for our customers. And in 2006, I started teaching our training classes. In 2010, we joined the Handi Quilter community. I’ve learned from the best and have years of hands-on experience!
The Quilting Connection has expanded over the years as well. Our home base remains in Elkhorn, WI. In 2012 we expanded to a second location in New London, WI. We remained there for 10 years. But in 2022, we had the opportunity to move from New London to Appleton, WI. Now our second location is right next door to Going to Pieces Quilt Company on Northland Avenue. Talk about a winning combination!
You’re almost up to date. In September 2021, my husband Rick and I bought The Quilting Connection from my mom and stepdad. Our mission is to continue the quilting tradition started by my mom and grandmother back in 1999 … and that means supporting you every way possible in your longarm quilting journey!
Whether you’re new to longarm quilting and investigating your options, in the market to buy a longarm system, would like some training to up your quilting skills, or having issues with your Handi Quilter machine, we’re your solution!
I love working with our quilting community! At The Quilting Connection, we believe that supporting and educating our customers is top priority. I provide much of our in-person training. I’ve also created many You Tube videos that address some of the most common questions and problems you’ll encounter when longarm quilting. Just take a look and subscribe to our channel, Angie’s Answers!
If you don’t find the answer there, I’m always a phone call or email away. And if I’m not available, one of our knowledgeable staff members will help you.
Are you interested in learning more about free motion quilting or quilting with rulers? Award winning quilter Wendy Fuller leads our free motion classes. An effective mix of practical instruction and hands-on practice guided by an excellent instructor keeps this series of classes in constant demand!
We also offer training led by nationally known Handi Quilter instructors. Whether held in person or via Zoom, these classes provide you with cutting-edge skills, techniques and tips to enhance your longarm quilting experience even more.
If you’re in the market to purchase a longarm system, any of our helpful staff can provide you with the information you need to make the best choice from all of the Handi Quilter options available to you.
Not ready or in the market to buy? There’s our rental option. Just take an introductory class to using the machines, and you can schedule rental time with us. Then you can finish your own quilts! Our staff will be there to assist you as needed.
Time for machine maintenance, or your machine isn’t operating as it should? Rick specializes in servicing the Handi Quilter machines. He’ll keep your machine running at its best!
Rick and I also work as a team to provide in-home setup for all of the Handi Quilter systems we sell.
And you’ll also see us covering The Quilting Connection booth at several of the area quilting events. Stop by and say hi!
So there you have it! Rick and I are proud to be the largest Handi Quilter Retailer in Wisconsin and the number one Handi Quilter Retailer in the Mid-West.
